There will be games, a Christmas tea and hopefully a visit from Father Christmas and his helper.

Age group: 4-10 years olds

Village Hall Bookings

Underriver Village Hall is a traditional cosy village hall in a picturesque setting, standing in its own grounds.  It has a stage and there is a separate small "green room" with direct access to a small fenced area of the village green.  There is a large, modern and well equipped kitchen.  Seated catering capacity is for a maximum of 80 persons.  The hall is ideal for children's parties, small amateur theatre productions, celebratory lunches or dinners, small meetings, etc.  To reserve the Village Hall for an event, please contact our Bookings Secretary: Helen Watson on 07973215892.

Cricket Club - 2011

Underriver Cricket Club is one of the oldest in Kent and is thought to have originated from the Underriver House team. The ground is set in one of the most picturesque of locations with an excellent pitch and outfield with its own pavilion.

The Club welcomes players of all standards and ages and new players are always sure of an enthusiastic welcome. It should be mentioned that the home teas are renowned for their excellence! In addition to a full programme of matches, with games on Saturdays and Sundays though the season, there is usually an annual tour and there are social events such as the annual dinner, quiz nights and treasure hunt and supper.

St Margaret's Church

St Margaret’s Church family warmly welcomes people of all Christian denominations and none to its services and worship of God. 

Carol Kitchener is the Priest-in-Charge. The Church building is in the middle of the village, almost next door to the pub. It was built in 1865 by John Davison, the Judge Advocate General, who lived in Underriver House. Our Church is not old, but people usually become very fond of it. It is constructed in a simple Gothic style and it is now a listed building. The Church has a particularly fine organ. It is part of the Church of England’s Diocese of Rochester.

Full details of our services and events are in the monthly Underriver Newssheet and on the notice board inside the Church porch. Through the varied types of service we aim to provide worship for all ages, in old- and new-style liturgy and language. For details of any of these, please contact Arthur Rucker or Andrea Pierce.

There is a small and enthusiastic choir at St Margaret’s, who practise about once a fortnight. We also have a marvellous body of helpers who clean the Church, polish the brass, provide the flowers, tend the Churchyard, read the lessons and welcome all who come to our services.

Do come and join us in our prayer, praise and thanksgiving to God through Jesus Christ.

Thursday Underriver Group

TUG's was set up in 2004 to provide the opportunity for women of all ages in the Underriver area to meet once a month in the Village Hall. They usually take place on the first Thursday in the month to enjoy one another’s company, and after a lunch or supper, listen to a talk given by a variety of speakers, on a wide range of subjects.

Most of the meetings are open to husbands and friends.

Horticultural Society

The Society organizes a Spring Show, a Bring and Buy Plant Sale in May which raises money for a local charity and a Summer Show and Fete in July.

They enjoy a Supper in October which is combined with the AGM Presentation of Cups.

Petanque Club - Appréciez un jeu de petanque à La Roche Blanche !

"Seal Petanque Club" are now firmly established at The White Rock.  With the new season coming up we hold an Open Club Night every Tuesday from 7.15pm (weather permitting) where pub users are welcome to learn our game.

Underriver Village Association

The Underriver Village Association (UVA), which is a registered charity, is represented by a committee of elected villagers, who meet on a monthly basis.  An annual general meeting, open to all members, is held in the village hall in late November.  If you are interested in joining the Association, at £10 per household per year, please contact either Robert Talbot (Secretary) on 01732 761546 or uvasecretary@hotmail.co.uk , or Miles Hayward (Treasurer) on 01732 834847

On the committee are representatives of the Horticultural Society, Thursday Underriver Group (T.U.G.), Cricket Club, Parish Church Council and Wildlife Group. Each group reports to the committee on the various activities taking place in the village.

The UVA manages all activities at the Village Hall and oversees the maintenance of the hall and the village green. In addition, the UVA concerns itself with the lanes, footpaths and bridleways surrounding and running through Underriver, influencing planning strategy (see below) as well as other general matters of interest to Underriver residents.
