Minutes of a meeting held on Wednesday 30th April 2025 at The Village Hall at 19.45 hours.
Present: Miles Hayward (MH), Angus Macdonald (AM), Vicky Hall (VH), Belinda Goodwin (BG), Angela Ridge (AR), Ruth Bligh (RB), Richard Perry (RP), Mike Clyne (MC).

- CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 26th March 2025.
- The minutes were approved & duly signed by the Chairman.
- MATTERS ARISING
Newcomers: It was thought there were two new families in the Village: Family name Hartley moved in to Mill Lane; Family name Gude moved into Old Coach Road. Action VH to deliver Welcome Pack to the former, RT to the latter.
Hall Bookings Update: ES reported that bookings are continuing to go well albeit slowing slightly. Several new enquiries. Encore Theatre School have booked for the end of July. Hildenborough & Tonbridge Medical Group have booked for their staff party on 16th May (help needed to put up marquee).
Sources of hall bookings seem to be Mumsnet, Facebook, Next Door. MH to look for online reviews of the website. Some referrals from party planners / bouncy castle hirers etc. Need to put some comments from hirers on the website. Action MH/RT

- U.V.A. SOCIAL OCCASIONS
VE Day 80th Anniversary (All) – Thursday 8th May
- Event has sold out (62 people) which is great news. Tables to be set up the night before. Anything else needed to be done will be sent out to the Committee. Action RT
Golf Day (Colin Goodwin) – Friday 16th May
- Still just 16 people signed up but hoping for a few more.
UFest – (MH) Saturday 21st June
- Ticket sales going well (107 entry tickets already sold). Setting up on Friday evening / Saturday morning. 14 cars booked for car show at the White Rock. History exhibition to be in the Hall. Next UFest meeting on Wednesday 7th May.
Village Cricket Match – Sunday 20th July.
- MO to sponsor trophy again. MH liaising with UCC. Ed Rook in charge of Village side.
Juke Box Bingo – (MC/BG) – Saturday 11th October
- Six out of eight tables already booked.
Christmas Dinner – (Sophie Honnywill) – Friday 5th December
“Speaker” event for either Sept or early Nov to be discussed at next meeting. Action All
ASSOCIATION & CLUB REPORTS
Hort. Soc: AR reported a very successful Spring Show on 29th March with a lot of entries and a very sociable atmosphere! Plant Sale will be held on10th May. Autumn Show 20th September and AGM on 6th November.
P.C.C: (from notes sent by PP) The PCC was welcoming all the UVA members who have joined the PCC electoral roll. There is a volunteer service planned for 25th May to which all are welcome. The PCC also wanted to thank the UVA for their help with John Clemence’s funeral which went very well.
Cricket Club: no report.
Wildlife: Cuckoo(s) has/have been heard; swallows are back and an increase in the fox population.

- AR said that Angela Forsyth had suggested that some planters would be good for the front of the hall on the wall by the road and Angela has offered to maintain them. Suggestion that the Committee consider ideas on this for discussion at the next meeting. Action: All
- MH flagged that there have been concerns raised by a number of village residents about the planning applications for Hollanden Farm.
- VH reminded all of the first Friday in the month pub night.
